In 2019, as the season started I was already looking forward to competing again in the Anglet Pro in summer. In 2015, I reached the second position on the podium in the surfing championship Anglet Pro and the victory felt very close. Anglet is one of the beaches that has seen me grow as a person and as a surfer and is also one of the only events where I feel at home. That is why winning this contest has a special meaning for me and I haven’t stopped until I could achieve it in 2019, four years after that second place!
It was a dream event because I managed to do my best surfing in competition and get out of very complex situations in the last seconds that made each heat very exciting. It was one of those occasions in which I felt confident and everything I did was well executed. I also had a very special connection with the waves and that helped me to get the highest scores of my professional career. In short, I had an overall average heat score of 15.27p out of 20 and a wave near the perfection 9.83 out of 10 (one of the three judges gave me a 10) See results.
It was also an experience that I was able to share with my friends and my family and that is something that I value most because it is a reward for both myself and for all those who support me unconditionally throughout the years.
This victory also told me which level my surfing should be since I was simply my best version and that is what it is all about.
